1. リソグラフとは_What’s a Risograph?

リソグラフは、シルクスクリーン印刷と同じ孔版印刷の高速デジタル印刷機です。
1色ごとに印刷の元となる版(マスター)をつくり、内部の印刷ドラムに巻きつけ、紙を通して印刷を行います。
機械に2つドラムが入るので、1回の通紙で同時に2色の印刷が可能です。
シルクスクリーン印刷よりもスピーディーで低コストなため、本やZINE、ポスターやチラシなど、多枚数印刷で手作りな規模の製作に向いています。
※正確で写真のような再現性の高い品質の印刷には向いていませんのでご注意ください。

The Risograph is a stencil printing style digital duplicator. The Riso prints have unique expression of prints like a silk screen printing.
They enable high-volume printing at high speed and low cost.
They are suitable to make books, zines, posters, flyers, and other graphic arts by handmade.
*The Risograph is not suitable to print photo-quality and hight precision.

2. スタジオの使い方_How to use our studio

Hand Saw Pressは、直接スタジオにお越しいただき、スタッフと相談しながらリソグラフの印刷ができるスタジオです。オープン日はカレンダーをご確認ください。印刷する方が優先の予約制ですが、見学や相談も可能です。ぜひお気軽にご予約ください。

・予約印刷：私たちと相談しながら立ち会いのもとリソグラフの印刷や製本作業ができます。

Hand Saw Press Studio is open about five days a week. Please check our calendar for the exact open days.
Reservations are primarily prioritized for those using the studio for printing and production, but we also welcome bookings for visits or consultations.

・Printing Reservations: Work alongside us on risograph printing and bookbinding while receiving support and advice.

4. 原稿やデータの作り方_How to make the data for Riso

1) 手描きや出力した紙の原稿とデジタルデータ原稿のどちらからでも印刷可能です。
We can print both the digital original from the PC or the Paper original from the scanner.

2) 印刷可能なサイズ
定形サイズの場合: B5、A4、B4、A3 （※1色プリントの場合のみ、はがきサイズも可能）
不定形サイズの場合: 100mm × 246mm ～ 320mm × 432mm
Printable area are B5, A4, B4, A3 and 100mm x 246mm - 320mm x 432mm.

3) 原稿の作り方 File preparation
The Risograph prints one color at time. A File should be separated into individual grayscale images for each color that is to be printed.
If you want to print several colors, It is better to add registration marks to your files.

5. 用紙_Paper

リソグラフは46g/㎡～210g/㎡（40～180kg 連量：四六判）の範囲内の上質紙、中質紙、更紙、画用紙、再生紙などが使用できます。（※厚い紙の場合はY目しか通りません。）

Hand Saw Pressでは、コピー用紙/わら判紙/上質紙/画用紙/など、用途にあわせた白系の紙をそろえています。紙の持ち込みも可能です。

6. 作業手順と時間_Workflow & Turnaround

作業手順_Workflow

1) 相談＆テスト印刷
本番印刷の前にインクの発色を確認するテスト印刷をお勧めしています。（料金別途）
（注意：リソグラフは仕上がりが均一にならないため、テスト時と本番印刷で仕上がりが異なるケースがよくあるので、その点もテストの時に十分にスタッフとご確認ください。）

2) 本番印刷 or 預かり印刷
テスト印刷をご確認いただき問題なければ、本番印刷に入ります。
2色以上の印刷、両面の印刷、枚数が多い印刷、印刷点数が多い場合は、1回の予約の時間内で印刷が完了しません。その場合はデータを預かりして、こちらで印刷を仕上げます。

3) お渡し
受け取りに来ていただくか、郵送も可能です。（送料は別途となります。）

1) Consultation & Test Printing
Before the final print, we recommend doing a test print to check ink colors and finish (additional fee applies).
Note: Risograph printing is not uniform, so the results may differ between the test print and the final print. Please make sure to review this carefully with our staff during the test.

2) Final Printing
After chacking the test printing, You will proceed with the final print run.
For prints with more than two colors, double-sided printing, large quantities, or multiple designs, it may not be possible to complete everything within one reservation session. In such cases, you can leave your data with us and we will finish the printing for you.

3) Pick-up or Delivery
You can pick up your prints at the studio, or we can ship them to you (shipping fee applies).

印刷時間と納期_Printing Time & Turnaround

1時間でできる印刷の目安：

片面2色以下の印刷で50枚以下、2種類まで
完璧な印刷データ有り

預かり印刷：

片面3色以上の印刷、両面印刷、データが印刷用に完成していない場合は、当日完成ができません。お預かり印刷となり、2〜数日かかります。
印刷が閉店の20時までに終わらなかった場合は預かり印刷となります。営業時間の延長はできませんので御了承ください。

納期の注意点：

リソグラフは2色以上の印刷や、ページの中にインク面が多い印刷の場合など、思っている以上に印刷に時間がかかります。ゆとりのあるスケジュールでのご予約をおねがいします。
色数の多い印刷物、ZINEや本の印刷は、遅くとも納期の4日～1週間前までに入稿ください。
納期が3日以下の場合のお預かり印刷は、特急印刷となります。必ずスタッフとご相談ください。

Printing Time & Turnaround

Estimated printing time: 1 hour:

Single-sided, up to 2 colors, 50 copies or fewer, up to 2 designs.
Print-ready files required.

Drop-off Printing:

For prints with 3 or more colors, double-sided prints, or files not yet ready for printing, same-day completion is not possible. These will be processed as drop-off orders, taking 2–several days.
If printing cannot be completed by our closing time (8:00 PM), it will be treated as a drop-off order. Please note that extended hours are not available.

Printing Schedule Notes:

Risograph printing can take longer than expected for multi-color prints or pages with large ink coverage. Please allow extra time when scheduling.
For prints with many colors, or Zines/books, please submit files at least 4 days to 1 week before your desired delivery date.
Drop-off orders with a turnaround of 3 days or less will be treated as rush orders. Please consult with our staff.

7. リソグラフ印刷の注意点_Cautionary points

1) インクは完全に乾燥しません。
印刷後に十分にインクを乾かした後でも、指でこすると汚れることがあります。
The ink does not dry completely.

2) ３色以上の印刷は時間がかかります。
1回の通紙で同時に印刷できるのは2色まで。3色以上印刷する場合は、最初に刷った2色のインクが乾いてから印刷します。
インク範囲が広く濃度の高い印刷は特に乾燥に時間がかかります。（一晩くらいが目安です。）
You need much time to print over 3 colors.

3) 100%のベタ面が広い印刷が苦手です。
ベタ面が広い場合は80~90％程度にデータの濃度を調整する必要があります。
If your data have large flat areas of 100% ink coverage, You have to change them 80-90% black.

4) 汚れの問題があります。
特にインク範囲が広く濃い印刷の場合、裏面、紙の端にインクの擦れ、紙の中央にローラーの後が着きやすいです。
印刷する順番や速度などで汚れを最小限にする工夫が必要となります。
Riso prints are sometime stained with ink. Especially paper edge and center and back side.

5) ズレの問題があります。
色数が多いほどズレが発生します。それぞれの色ごとのデータに、トリムマークを付けておくことをお勧めします。
※汚れやズレを100%防ぐことはできません。印刷する１枚１枚にそれぞれに、ズレや擦れが生まれるのがリソグラフの味わいです。
The Risograph never can print perfect registration on multi-color. It is better to add registration marks to your image.
